In 1896, my great-grandfather Johann Abt set up his own blacksmith’s workshop in Bavaria. His clear
objective was the optimum transfer of horsepower to the road. This has remained true
throughout the company’s 125-year history. Meanwhile, the blacksmith’s shop has become a
high-end tuning facility. However, the founder’s pioneering spirit lives on – more than ever.

The ABT RS6 Johann Abt Signature Edition pays homage to our founder. 64 masterpieces, one for
each year - hand crafted by our racing mechanics. The vehicles boast 800 HP and are the result
of countless hours’ work. They each contain a unique relic
from our history: a fragment of the original anvil from 1896*, preserved for eternity in a
                        timecapsule.

It all started on this block of steel. On this, my great-grandfather realised his dreams. On this, he
transformed his vision into innovation. An irreplaceable piece of history, that has now earned a
worthy place for eternity. Not in a museum. But in the most exclusive ABT of all time.

In the late 19th century, horse-drawn carriages were the means of transport in Bavaria.
Unless it was snowing. Then people would use sledges. In Kempten and the surrounding areas,
two methods of transport were required. It was complicated. Mainly because during the
interim period, neither worked particularly well. That‘s why almost the entire region swore
by a sophisticated skid system mounted under the carriage. The „Schutsche“ – invented by
master craftsman Johann Abt. Back then, this combination of craftsmanship and innovation at
the time ensured that more and more Allgäuer brought their beloved vehicles to the
blacksmith’s workshop. Precisely this combination is the winning formula for our tuning
                            facility today.
