So now the ABT RS6 LEGACY EDITION 1,000 HP* and the ABT RS7 LEGACY EDITION 1,000 HP* are taking a quantum leap in their drive technology.

In addition to the visual conversion to the expressive Legacy Edition, the engine is transformed into an "elemental force" par excellence. This is because here, our engineers have surpassed themselves with innovative IWI technology.

Technology from the motorsport pros

Due to the high demands placed on the engine and combustion at such high loads, which are generated when the enormous forces of 1,000 HP (736kW) and approx. 1150 Nm are released, our engineers faced a major challenge. They found the solution in an innovative technology and in the reworking of pistons, connecting rods and other engine components.

The complex conversion therefore includes many adapted as well as additional system components.

Engine conversion in detail:

  • Carbon intake system with enlarged turbo air intakes
  • Modified turbochargers with enlarged compressor wheel and adapted bearings
  • Modified pressure sensor up to 4 bar boost pressure
  • Intercooler with enlarged air intakes in the front apron
  • Indirect water/ethanol injection (IWE or IWI) at the throttle valves, tank in the trunk well, filling via an additional filler neck behind the fuel filler flap
  • Specially developed ABT forged pistons with compression reduction and reinforced connecting rods and reinforced piston pins
  • Additional oil cooler
  • Sport catalyst 400cpsi and OPF
  • Exhaust system
  • Control unit processing for basic performance

All components have been extensively tested and inspected by our experts on our certified engine test bench as well as on the race track.

Indirect water/ethanol injection is supplied via an auxiliary tank in the trunk well, which is filled via an auxiliary filler neck located directly next to the series filler neck for "normal" fuel refueling. In the ideal case, i.e. with an appropriate driving style, the consumption of the ABT IWI fluid corresponds to 0.5l per 100 kilometers. This corresponds to a range of up to 3,000 kilometers with a fully utilized tank capacity of 15 liters.
The ABT liquid can be re-ordered conveniently via the MyABT app.

1000 hp thanks to efficient cooling

The advanced IWI or IWE technology (Indirect Water/Ethanol Injection) plays a particularly key role in developing power to 1,000 HP. The water/ethanol mixture is injected upstream of the throttle valves, further cooling the air that has already been pre-cooled in the intercooler. This cooling system is controlled by an additional control unit developed by ABT, which interacts with the AEC.

This not only results in more efficient fuel combustion, but by lowering the temperatures in the intake manifold, combustion chamber and exhaust tract, the precisely matched engine components are also decisively relieved of thermal load. As a result, enormous engine power can also be called up on a sustained basis.

Of course, this system is also permanently monitored by various sensors and there is efficient communication between the control units, which means that an intelligent, engine-friendly start-up and shutdown of the system is ensured. Precise insights, e.g. about the fill level of the auxiliary tank or the activation status, are available via the MyABT app.

The IWI system is activated by pressing the RS button for 1 second while the vehicle is in one of the two RS modes. The car now has 940 hp at its disposal. To release the full 1,000 hp, the vehicle must also be connected to the myABT app and the "Race" mode must be activated here. Please note that the vehicle must be fueled with 102 octane fuel for this.

Two hearts beat in its chest

The 4.0 liter bi-turbo engine already generates an impressive 820 HP (603 kW) with the additional ABT Engine Control (AEC) control unit, which can be increased by a further 180 HP (133 kW) by activating the IWI system via a further additional control unit.

But the cars' visual appearance has not been neglected either.

Engine technology, exterior and interior - everything is perfectly tuned for enormous performance

In addition to the extensive reworking of the engine and integration of the new components, the appearance of the RS6 and RS7 is also being appropriately modified:

The comprehensive ABT aerodynamics package with front lip, front skirt inserts, wheel arch ventilation, mirror cap attachments, side skirt inserts and attachments, rear skirt insert, rear wing, silencer system and much more is truly impressive.
The sporty front hood insert also comes into its own.

ABT coilover springs and sports stabilizers provide improved driving stability. The HIGH PERFORMANCE IR22 forged rim in glossy black is - as the name suggests - only used on our high-performance vehicles and is an absolute eye-catcher.

The interior also boasts a high-quality finish, with the innovative Dinamica soul microfiber fabric being used to a large extent.

myABT App

A very special feature is the myABT app. On selected vehicles such as the RS7 Legacy Edition, advanced functions are available, such as the retrieval of engine-relevant parameters, e.g. additional power or intake air temperature. You also have access to various Charisma settings such as ECO, SPORT or RACE for a requirement-based adjustment of the power characteristics to suit the fuel quality. On the 1,000 hp Legacy Edition, the app has even more functions, such as the fill level display for the ABT liquid.
But you will also find practical features such as the petrol station finder or the latest information about ABT. The data can be displayed in the MMI via Apple CarPlay.
